Well, yesterday was a doosy.   I left my office about 2pm to run to pick up a passport from am embassy.  Afterwards as the sky got dark and the news people on WAMU continuously told me there were tornadoes spotted in Northern Virginia I said self you had better just go home.  So I snapped a few pictures, first one is headed out of the office, then the Washington Monument, and Jefferson Memorial/Tidal Basin on my way down I-395S

This last one is not taken by me but totally looks just like what I saw going to the off ramp to get home.  I swear as I sat there and looked at the sky it was like a huge black sheet came across with thunder booming and vertical rain that immediately flooded the roads.  Thank God I only had half a mile to get home.

Check out more pictures on WTOP News Site.

After the first storms went through there was another set of storms about 4 hours later.  They didn’t seem as severe where I was as in wind and rain but nonetheless they had a lot of lightning.  We could see almost fuschia lightning our our balcony window.  Today is bright and sunny so I guess that’s a good change!

I’m off to Indianapolis this weekend and going to Wisconsin next week.  I’m not sure if I’ll get a chance to update in that time but I’ll be on email if anyone wants to put in a stamping order!!

Card Swaps!

June 2, 2008

So I found on SCS this category for card swaps - and I’m having so much fun!  Right now I’m signed up for 2 card swaps and 2 recipes swaps.  I also have an ethnic food recipe swap that I’m trying to get people signed up for.  Anyway one of the card swaps is for little boy cards.  I found this great little technique for pull cards, meaning they open up.  I took some pictures (sorry it’s from my camera phone!)

So this is the front.  I used the Sahara Sand SU paper, and some misc. green cardstock for the little seal.  The castle is from a super old SU stamp set from 1996!  But I really love it because the set is soooo cute!  I used markers and prismacolors for the image.

A little closer up.

And when you open it up………….there’s a DRAGON inside!!! (and some cute little toadstools too!)

He’s a cute dragon though and not scary at all.  Totally appropriate for a little boy I think!  Now only 6 more to make.

Send me a comment if you want the full recipe :)
